Masked Republic, the California based company who has been actively working for the past decade on it’s mission of “expanding lucha libre beyond the borders of Mexico,” has announced the formation of a new sister company, Masked Republic, Inc.
Masked Republic, Inc. is a nonprofit educational corporation dedicated to creating awareness of, and appreciation for, the Mexican art form of lucha libre and additional aspects of Hispanic and Chicano culture, primarily through the presentation of conventions and events that celebrate the historic and ongoing contribution of lucha libre to culture and the arts.
To that end the company will:
• Promote and produce educational and cultural exhibits and conventions the first of which will be Expo Lucha to be held in Las Vegas from August 31-September 1, 2018.
• Subsidize legal expenses for luchadores and help them through processes including applying for and maintaining work visas and intellectual property matters including trademark filing and protection.
• Subsidize the expense in bringing luchadores from Mexico to live events across the world to make it easier for the cultural exchange and education that occurs when the stars from Mexico can be seen by their fans across the globe.
The first educational and cultural event for the company will be Expo Lucha™, a two-day celebration of all things lucha libre, over Labor Day weekend 2018 in Las Vegas, NV.
